In a singleplayer game that is focused on story having a mechanic that is prone to such immersion-breaking repetition and frustration, and results in impeding the experience of the story rpg elements of the game, is a detriment. But in this case it once again breaks immersion, because if I die 20 times and the hunters can send out five of the six people I had killed each time, is EVERYONE in London a hunter for them to have those numbers? (b) the mechanic is within the game world, i.e you are regenerating and not really 're-starting'. But in this case it is just a bad mechanic and easy to replace that with 'the world remembers your progress' and so you don't have to fight the same people again, and again, and again, and again, ad infinitum. (a) the respawns occur post-dying because you are re-starting 'the level', i.e. I was left with two conclusions for this mechanic. Which is a shame given this one mechanic prevents me from enjoying the rest of the great content of the game! This was not fun, immensely boring, and only resulted in me not wanting to continue to play. This meant that I wasted so much real-life time just trying to progress: an hour in fact mostly just going through the same situation over and over again. I have encountered a group of six people - three in one street and three a little further on in another - and after killing the first three, and getting killed by the next three, instead of having to just fight the three that killed me, because, you know, I was reloading on death, I had to kill the first three again before I could get to kill the second group! Not only does it ruin immersion to kill hunters and then, after walking to a new area a few streets away, come back to find they have respawned - in a city, at night, where the streets are meant to be empty: as if the hunters have infinite people in their group to send them out again! - but when you die to have to fight the same people again because you cannot save. The re-spawning enemies in this game are more than a little irritating. Apologies if this has been brought up anywhere else.
